In this unique pairing of wine tasting and poetry, Portland sommelier Hannah Leigh (Coquine) will introduce guests to four wines, demonstrating the relationship between landscape and winemaking, showing how to discern place in a glass. Following the tasting, Portland author Aileen Keown Vaux will share four poems, including excerpts from Keown Vaux’s debut poetry collection Sad Man Happy Hour (Unsolicited Press), highlighting when writers foster deep relationships with the natural world their work takes on distinct characteristics.  Operating under the belief that beautiful land produces artisans with a heightened sense of care for the world, Wine & Words centers the environment in an evening of taste appreciation.
